Masbia is a nonprofit soup kitchen network and food pantry, providing hot, nutritious meals daily for hundreds of New Yorkers in desperate need of food, and every week handing out hundreds of weekend take-home packages of groceries. In 2009, Masbia expanded from one kitchen and dining hall in Brooklyn’s Boro Park, to a three-kitchen network throughout Brooklyn and Queens.

Richir Outreach has worked with The Institute for Southern Studies over three years on a variety of projects, from list-building, to supporter outreach, to building their current website. Richir Outreach provides ongoing technical support and general assistance to the Institute in order to support their work on an ongoing basis.
Richir Outreach provided MVFR with a new Drupal website and continuing support of their chosen CRM, Salsa. With our help, MVFR began sending out a monthly newsletter to their supporters announcing upcoming events and keeping their members informed of opportunities to get involved both on and offline.
Campaigns require a systematic approach that balances the emotion of an activist and the planning of a strategist. The following steps will help an organization begin to focus their energy into an actionable process that will enable winning campaigns. Answering the following questions will provide the organizer a path to implementing a successful campaign.
What are we fighting for?
The chosen campaign must be sufficiently broad as to appeal to as many people as possible. Here, listening is critical. Members of your organization will establish their expectations. The leaders of organizations are responsible for distilling those down to identify issues where there is a unique junction of energy and potential for organizational action through a campaign. The organizer must be realistic and have a good sense for the organization's best interests.
